Latexfauna

Latexfauna, an innovative Ukrainian indie pop band, has crafted a distinct identity in the music industry since its formation. The group's journey is characterized by a blend of musical experimentation and artistic evolution.
Formation and Early Days
The seeds of Latexfauna were sown when Dima Zezyulin, driven by a desire to return to the stage, reached out to Alexander and Konstantin Levitsky to "reanimate" the group. This collaboration led to the formation of Latexfauna, with Alexander joining as the band's keyboardist. The band underwent several lineup changes over the years, and as of 2021, included members Dima Zezyulin, Ilya Sluchanko, Sasha Dyman, Sasha Mylnikov, and Max Grebin.
Musical Evolution and Breakthrough
Latexfauna began their musical journey with the track "Ajahuaska," but initially struggled with promotion. Their breakthrough came when their music was featured on Radio Aristocrats' The Morning Spanking, receiving accolades from both experts and listeners. The band's stage debut occurred in 2016 at the Republic festival.
In 2017, Latexfauna signed a contract with Moon Records and released several singles, marking a significant milestone in their career. Their debut album, "Ajahuaska," was released in 2018 and received a warm public reception. The album's tracks are known for their relaxed, summer vibe and hypnotic grooves.
Recent Endeavors
By 2019, Latexfauna had established a solid fanbase and embarked on a tour across Ukraine. Their musical contributions were recognized with a nomination for the Jager Music Awards in the "Group of the Year" category. In 2020, they released the track "KOSATKA," dedicating it to men facing a crisis.
In 2021, Latexfauna continued to expand their discography with new singles like "Arktika" and "Bounty," each accompanied by music videos. The band actively toured Ukraine, celebrating their music and connecting with their growing fanbase.
Artistic Identity and Style
Latexfauna's music is a unique blend of various genres, and they have been recognized as a new, intelligent face of the Ukrainian indie scene. Their frontman, Dima Zezyulin, has been involved in music since the age of 5, adding a depth of experience to the group's sound. The band is known for their spontaneity in songwriting and recording, as well as their use of surzhik in their lyrics, which adds a layer of authenticity to their music.
The band's members hail from different regions of Ukraine, bringing diverse influences and backgrounds to their music. This diversity is reflected in their songs, which often feature a mix of cultural and linguistic elements.
Latexfauna's journey from their initial formation to their current status in the Ukrainian indie music scene highlights their dedication to musical innovation and their ability to resonate with a wide audience.
