Early Life and Artistic Beginnings

Born on April 1, 1986, in Lutsk, Ukraine, Dmytro Monatik, professionally known as MONATIK, started his artistic journey early in life. His breakdance group, DBS Crew, became the best 'B-boy' group in western Ukraine between 2000 and 2006. Monatik's dual passion for law and the arts led him to study at the Law Faculty of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management while pursuing his artistic endeavors.

The Turning Point: From Breakdance to Music

Monatik's foray into the music world was marked by his participation in the 'Star Academy' in 2008. Although he didn't win, this experience was pivotal, leading to his collaboration with Natalia Mohylevska and the formation of his first music group, Monatique, venturing into funk and soul genres. His move to Kyiv to work with Mohylevska signified his commitment to a career in music.

The Rise of a Solo Artist

Monatik's solo career began to take shape in 2011 with the release of "ТайУлетаю" (I Flew Away). His involvement in choreography and appearances in various music videos showcased his diverse talents. In 2013, Monatik released several tracks, including "Прости…" (Forgive), "Саундтрек сегодняшнЕГО дня" (Soundtrack of Today), and "ДыМ" (Smoke). His first steps as a composer were noticeable when he presented Svetlana Loboda's song "40 градусов" (40 degrees) in 2012.

Establishing a Distinct Musical Identity

Monatik's debut solo album "Саундтрек сегодняшнЕГО дня" was released in 2014, followed by his second album "Звучит" in 2016, which was a collection of 16 tracks. His music is an eclectic mix of pop, rock, electronic, and hip hop, often infused with elements of traditional Ukrainian folk music.

A Star on Television and Eurovision

Monatik expanded his influence by becoming a judge on the Ukrainian version of Dancing With The Stars and a coach on The Voice Kids. His performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv was a major highlight, where he showcased his song "Кружит" (Spinning).

Personal Life and Recognition

Monatik's marriage to Iryna Demicheva adds a personal dimension to his public persona. His artistic success is reflected in his net worth, estimated to be between $1 million and $5 million. Throughout his career, Monatik has received numerous awards, including Best Pop Artist at the Yuna Music Awards in 2017 and Male Artist of the Year at the Ukrainian Music Awards in 2018.
